Where to Eat Around Nha Trang

Food & Getting Around · 19 / 23

Nha Trang is one of Vietnam's top seafood cities. You can enjoy freshly caught prawns, crab, shellfish and fish at low prices, and local specialties such as Ninh Hoa-style nem nuong, the fish noodle soup bun ca and banh canh are not to be missed. Halal restaurants, however, are limited, so check ahead.

What to know first

The heart of Nha Trang's food culture is unquestionably seafood. Near the city beach and harbour, many restaurants let you pick live seafood from tanks, weigh it and cook it. Prices are by market rate, so always confirm the price per kg and the cooking fee before ordering. Noodle dishes shine at breakfast and lunch.

Seafood (Hải sản)

Prawns, crab, mantis shrimp, grilled shellfish, steamed fish. Dip in the lime-salt-pepper sauce (muối ớt xanh). Try the harbour and beach restaurant strips.

Nem nuong Ninh Hoa

Char-grilled pork sausage wrapped in rice paper with vegetables and herbs — a Ninh Hoa specialty. The sweet-sour peanut dipping sauce is the key.

Bun ca

A clear fish noodle soup topped with fish and fish cake. Its clean, refreshing broth is great for breakfast or a morning-after meal.

Banh canh & cafes

Banh canh with chewy thick noodles, plus stylish cafes across the city serving Vietnamese condensed-milk and coconut coffee.

Noodle dishes (bun ca, banh canh)~30,000–50,000 VND per person (≈ 40–65 THB)
Nem nuong set~50,000–80,000 VND per person (≈ 65–100 THB)
Seafood restaurant (per person)~250,000–600,000 VND (market rate, varies by item)
Cafe drinks~30,000–60,000 VND (≈ 40–75 THB)
Avoiding seafood overchargingFor tank-picked seafood, confirm the price per kg, cooking fee and service charge before ordering, and watch the weighing yourself. Check the bill line by line. Restaurants busy with locals are generally fair.
