Da Nang Weather, Golf Season & Dress Code

Before you go · 04 / 23

Central Vietnam, where Da Nang sits, feels similar to Bangkok but differs in one decisive way: the rainy season is concentrated in September–December, heaviest in October–November. That is the mirror image of Thailand's April–October wet season, so when Bangkok floods, Da Nang enjoys its sunniest stretch.

The year at a glance

Da Nang has two broad seasons. The dry season (roughly January–August) is clear and stable; the wet season (September–December) brings late-afternoon downpours and the occasional typhoon. For golf, the best window is February–May — low humidity, clear skies and gentle breezes. June–August is still dry but the hottest, with midday feels-like temperatures of 37°C and above.

Jan–MarEarly dry, cool (20–26°C), light wind — pleasant rounds
Apr–MayPeak season — clear & dry (26–33°C), best for both coast and mountain
Jun–AugHottest (feels-like 37°C+), book early tee times, firm & fast turf
Sep–DecWet (heaviest Oct–Nov), afternoon storms/typhoons possible — play mornings
Mountain and coast have different weather

Ba Na Hills sits inland at the higher foothills, so it runs 2–3°C cooler than the beach, with stronger wind and more mist and passing showers. BRG Norman, by contrast, is a coastal links exposed to sea breeze. The two courses can feel completely different on the same day — pack a light windbreaker for your Ba Na Hills round.

Course dress code

Da Nang's championship courses enforce an international dress code, applying to both clubhouse entry and the round. Pack accordingly.

  • Top: collared golf shirt. No round-neck tees or sleeveless tops.
  • Bottom: golf slacks or knee-length golf shorts. No jeans or athletic short-shorts.
  • Shoes: soft-spike golf shoes (no metal spikes).
  • Clubhouse: no flip-flops or beachwear.
  • Collared golf shirts (rounds + 1 spare — you'll sweat)
  • Light windbreaker / rain jacket (for Ba Na Hills)
  • SPF50 sunscreen + brimmed cap or visor
  • Sunglasses (strong glare on the coastal course)
  • Cooling sleeves / neck cooler (essential Jun–Aug)
  • 2–3 spare golf gloves (humidity soaks them fast)
  • Soft-spike golf shoes
  • Personal rangefinder (rentals are scarce — bring your own)

Beware midday heat

From June to August, midday feels-like temperatures push past 37–40°C — real round reports even mention 42°C. In this window, grab the first tee times around 6–7am, load the cart with plenty of iced water, and hydrate every hole. Your caddie will keep drinks and cold towels coming, but pacing yourself is on you.

In short: the best golf season is February–May, and even in the September–December wet season, morning rounds keep you out of trouble. Da Nang shares Thailand's time zone (Indochina Time, GMT+7) but the opposite climate rhythm — making it an ideal escape during Thailand's rainy months.
