Ho Chi Minh City is hot and humid all year — much like Bangkok. Remember two things: the dry season (Dec–Apr) is the best time for golf, and even in the wet season mornings are very playable.

Only two seasons
Southern Vietnam doesn't have four seasons — just a dry season and a wet season. Temperatures stay in the 26–35°C band all year and high humidity makes it feel hotter. The climate is nearly identical to Bangkok, so Thai golfers need no adjustment.
The dry season (Dec–Apr) brings little rain and clear skies — the best golf window, with Dec–Feb the most comfortable as mornings and evenings cool slightly. The wet season (May–Nov) doesn't rain all day; instead a short, heavy afternoon storm of 30–60 minutes usually passes through. Book a morning tee time and you can play comfortably even in the wet months.
| Dec–Feb (early dry) | ~24–32°C · almost no rain · most comfortable, peak golf |
|---|---|
| Mar–Apr (late dry) | ~27–36°C · hottest months · play early/morning |
| May–Jul (early wet) | ~26–33°C · short afternoon showers · morning tee times |
| Aug–Nov (peak wet) | ~25–32°C · frequent rain · morning rounds + rain gear |
Course dress code
Saigon's five-star courses (VGCC, Tan Son Nhat) enforce a proper dress code. A collared shirt and golf shoes (soft spikes) are required; sleeveless shirts, jeans, athletic/cargo shorts and sandals are not allowed. Men: collared shirt with golf slacks or tailored shorts; women: collared top or a golf dress.
- Collared shirts and golf slacks/tailored shorts (course dress code)
- Golf shoes (soft spikes) and dry spare socks per round
- Cap, sunglasses, SPF50+ sunscreen, cooling sleeves
- Wet-season trip: folding umbrella, light rain jacket, spare grip towel
- Spare moisture-wicking polos (2+ if playing 36 holes or into the night)
- Vietnamese dong (VND) cash — for caddie tips and halt-house drinks
Southern Vietnam is rarely hit directly by typhoons, but in peak wet months (Aug–Oct) heavy rain can shorten or postpone a round. Tee times and round order may shift with weather and seasonal conditions — follow your guide's advice.
