Saigon's go-to is Grab. The app fixes the fare upfront — no haggling or overcharging — and it works just like it does in Thailand.

Grab first, official taxis next

The ride-hailing app Grab (GrabCar / GrabBike) is overwhelmingly the easiest way around Saigon — the fare is fixed before you go and you pin the destination on a map, so there's no language barrier. If you hail a taxi, use the reputable metered Vinasun (white) or Mai Linh (green). Avoid unlicensed touts and cars without meters.

Airport (SGN) ↔ D1~15–30 min
D1 ↔ VGCC (Thu Duc)~40–45 min
D1 ↔ Tan Son Nhat Golf~10–20 min

  1. 1. Install Grab & add paymentUse the same Grab app from Thailand. Add a card for cashless rides, or choose cash payment if you prefer.
  2. 2. Set the pickup pointSearch the hotel/course/restaurant name or drop a map pin. At the airport, the pickup is at domestic lanes D1/D2.
  3. 3. Verify car & plateOnce matched, the app shows the car, plate and driver name. Check the plate before boarding and rate the trip afterward.
  4. 4. Groups & golf bagsWith golf bags and luggage, choose a 7-seater (Grab 6/SUV) or the guide's vehicle. For groups, a dedicated transfer is easiest and keeps timing on schedule.

Rush-hour traffic and the sea of motorbikesSaigon's rush hours (weekdays 07–09 and 17–19) are heavy — the same trip can take more than double. On a tee-time day, leave with plenty of buffer. The roads are also packed with motorbikes; to cross, walk at a steady, slow pace without stopping and the bikes will flow around you. Suddenly running or stopping is more dangerous.

Please hurry a little

Move golf bags by car (GrabCar), not motorbike taxi (GrabBike). Late at night after a night round, Grab matching can be a bit slow, so ask the clubhouse desk to call one in advance or arrange the guide's vehicle timing.
